Synthesis, characterization, optical properties, and solvatochromism of highly fluorescent benzotriazolyl vinyl aniline based D-π-A fluorophores

•Benzotriazolyl vinyl aniline derivatives were synthesized via the Krapcho decarboxylation.•Compounds showed high fluorescence in organic solvents.•Single crystal X-ray diffraction confirmed the (E)-geometry of the double-bond.•Compounds presented solvatochromic emission of blue to red in organic solvents.•Compounds showed properties to be used as EML on OLED devices.•Devices showed the J-V-L OLED plots, characteristic curve of a diode.
