Development of an Interactive Simulator for Cognitive Rehabilitation

In order for patients to be able to optimize their physical, psychological and cognitive functions, serious games dedicated to rehabilitation have appeared in the field of health. These games do not necessarily require the use of virtual reality, but the latter has interesting properties such as immersion in a virtual environment, haptic, auditory and other visual feedback that can motivate the candidate for functional rehabilitation. Our work consisted in developing an application dedicated to the improvement of classic cognitive rehabilitation, it combines a maze game with the Phantom Omni which provides real-time haptic feedback. Advice and information collected from medical specialists have guided us in the development of this application. To assess its usability, we conducted tests on eleven subjects. The results of these tests have shown that this achievement is an innovative experience from the point of view of patients due to its positive contribution to traditional methods. We plan to implement other functions to achieve full validation of the developed system.
