Lead/lead-bismuth cooled fast reactors (LFR) have generated significant interest as fourth-generation reactors due to their safety features and sustainable nuclear fuel. However, it is crucial to effectively monitoring the flow of lead-based solutions in these reactors. Traditional permanent magnet electromagnetic flow meters are expensive, difficult to maintain, and suffer from issues such as demagnetization and poor temperature resistance. In order to address these problems, this paper proposes a novel coil-based electromagnetic flow meter for lead-bismuth solutions. The feasibility of this approach is analyzed and simulated, and the results show that the size parameters of the flowmeter, especially the thickness of the oil cooling channel, will affect the heat dissipation effect and the output signal magnitude, which are mutually restricted. The established model can support future iterative optimization.
