Regulating the π–π interactions of copolymer gelators: Effective molecular design of highly stretchable and tough ionogels for wearable ionotronics

•Various copolymer gelators are proposed to tune the mechanical properties of ionogels.•PtBS gel exhibits the highest toughness based on its lowest molecular packing density of IL-solvophobic domains..•PtBS gel sensors show high sensitivity, a wide linear response, and long-term stability.•The practical feasibility of the judiciously designed ionogel is successfully demonstrated in stretchable ACEDs.
