Peptide and protein in therapeutics

The role of peptides and proteins in therapeutics is one of the interesting topics in pharmaceutical research. Due to the high affinity and specificity of peptides and proteins, they have the highest chances of clinical success, and thus they are prime options among the biologicals in various disease conditions. Many advancements in the novel drug design and delivery strategies for the production and manufacturing processes of proteins and peptides using chemical and biological methods have overcome some of the drawbacks and act as therapeutics. In this chapter, we have covered the roles of various therapeutic peptides and proteins in different diseases such as cancer, diabetes mellitus, and autoimmune disorders.
