In the current wind power dispatching operation scheme, the output fluctuation range of a single wind farm is large, the uncertainty is high, and the schedule ability is poor, which cannot give full play to the power regulation potential of wind power as a power source. This chapter describes the optimal operation scheme of hierarchical coordination of cluster wind power based on a virtual group. Firstly, a time-varying probability model of WVPG is established to realize the transformation of wind power characteristics description from a stationary time-invariant method to a nonstationary time-varying method. On this basis, the dispatchability, security, and economic risk indexes are quantified, which lays the foundation for WVPG to actively participate in the dispatch operation in the form of “quasi-conventional power supply.” Then, the day-ahead hierarchical coordinated generation plan based on WVPG is introduced, and the day-ahead generation plan models of coordination between WVPG and thermal power units and coordination between internal wind farms are discussed, respectively. Finally, the hierarchical coordinated real-time scheduling strategy based on WVPG is studied.
