Time out from positive reinforcement and the time-in ribbon

In this chapter, we discuss two procedures: time-out from positive reinforcement and the time-in ribbon. Both procedures have been implemented as part of the Autism Partnership Method to decrease challenging behavior and increase appropriate alternative behaviors. We provide practical considerations for implementing time-out as well as research related to time-out. We also describe the practical considerations and research related to the time-in ribbon procedure.
