摘要
With the advent of complete sequencing of the human genome a myriad of new fields have been developed for the study of human disease such as genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics. These areas have opened multiple opportunities for exploration of diseases, with trauma being one of them. Identification of the genetic basis of disease has led trauma surgeons and scientists to look into the genomics of upregulated and downregulated genes when a patient is admitted with profound shock. This field promises to shed further light and the genetic basis for outcomes in trauma patients.
