3D printing resource access

This chapter discusses how to connect the 3D printer to the cloud platform. Connecting 3D printers to the cloud platform can enable the printer to be accessed remotely and form printing services for use by distributed users, which is an important feature of cloud 3D platform based on cloud manufacturing. This chapter introduces two 3D printer accessing methods, they are adapter-based accessing method and sensor-based accessing method. In the adapter-based accessing method, through the communication module of the printer, different adapters can be designed for access to collect the basic information that the printer can provide. In addition, in order to conduct more comprehensive monitoring and health management of the printer, additional sensors need to be added to collect the information that the printer cannot provide and the environment information related to the operation of the printer. The sensor-based accessing method is developed for this demand.
