Peritonsillar abscess in times of COVID-19 – less, but more severe cases?

Introduction The Covid-19 pandemic is having a significant impact on standard health care in Germany. In addition, infections of the upper respiratory tract seem to have decreased, especially in the early months of the pandemic. The frequency of peritonsillar abscesses (PTA) was recorded based on data from the Augsburg ENT University Clinic (UKA) and it was examined whether a change in the therapy concept under the influence of the pandemic can be identified.
