Technological Innovation in Business Operations for Sustainability: Current Practices and Future Trends

The management of the business is a set of activities related to the organization and coordination of business, further, it also covers the aspect of financial management and optimal use of emerging technologies for sustainable growth. The current study maps the research productivity on business management, technology and sustainability (BMTS). The meta-data of the study has been obtained from the Scopus database, which covered the period from 1990 to 2022. The bibliographic details of scholarly materials consisting of original research articles and review articles have been selected and downloaded for analyzing the selected bibliometric indicators. VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel (v.16) software were used for data analysis. The authors from 124 countries contributed to 1336 articles and 26% of the literature was produced by the US and UK. More than half of the researches published during 2019 to 2022. Overall, all the selected articles were cited with an average of 24.04 citations per article. Albeit, Universiti Teknologi MARA contributed the highest number of articles but the research produced by the Worcester Polytechnic Institute gained the maximum citation impact. Mangla, S.K. and Sarkis, J. emerged as the most prolific authors. About 14% of the articles have been published in “Sustainability Switzerland”. The 20 most-cited articles gained 25% of the total citations. The subject dispersion based on the author’s used keywords denoted that sustainability, sustainable development, and circular economy were the preferred areas of research. The findings would support business managers, practitioners and educators to get insight into research scenarios of business management, technology and sustainability.
