Radiation protection

This chapter is intended to introduce briefly radiation protection in particle therapy and radiation safety management in the treatment facility. Radiation sources related to these issues can be derived from therapeutic beams and imaging radiation. This chapter will not cover the topic of radiation protection in imaging procedures, because this will be covered in Chapter 3. Instead, this chapter will focus on radiation protection and radiation safety management, including the shielding issue involved in the use of therapeutic beams.
