Background and Aim Poor diet quality has long been recognized as important contributor to the pathophysiology of metabolic diseases. The Healthy Eating Index is a tool that allows a simple evaluation of a person’s adherence to a qualitative diet. Our aim was to calculate this index based on German recommendations (HEI-EPIC) and its assessment regarding obesity and diabetes development and severity.
