Social care with older people: embedding and sustaining practice – the cARTrefu project

This chapter acknowledges that older people in Wales are an important demographic in social care and identifies the distinctive legislation that has been put into practice to support them. It illustrates this through description of cARTrefu, a creative project that supports older people in Wales. Furthermore, it provides information about how a research and practice collaboration seeks to achieve positive change for older people and those involved in supporting them. Key messages for practice include acknowledgement of the importance of person-centred, clear communication approaches and relational care for older people, and the value of involving older people and managers in the co-design of support.
