Elder mistreatment

Elder Mistreatment is a serious international problem. An estimated 1 in 6 individuals is at risk of elder mistreatment. Elder mistreatment includes physical abuse, psychological/emotional abuse, sexual abuse, financial exploitation, and neglect. Elder mistreatment is associated with numerous negative physical and psychological health correlates, such as poorer self-rated health and depression. New avenues of research and potential interventions are discussed.
