摘要
V2O5/CdS nanocomposites were prepared using a facile method and utilized as photocatalysts for Congo red (CR) dye molecule degradation. CR is an azo-type dye, which is toxic with a complex structure. The toxicity brings harmful effects on ecotoxicological for aquatic bodies. This study investigated the feasibility of V2O5/CdS nanocomposite catalyst for CR degradation. The V2O5/CdS nanocomposite catalyst was prepared using chemical bath deposition method. The nanocomposite catalyst is evaluated based on the band gap energy using UV–Vis. The degradation of CR dyes was explored through the effect of pH, different catalyst loadings, and the effect on the initial CR dye concentration. It was found that the optimum pH for the CR degradation is pH 8, while the optimum loading and optimum initial CR dye concentration are found at 10 mg and 10 ppm, respectively.
