Flow Biocatalysis for Chiral Molecules Synthesis

Flow biocatalysis has proved to be a powerful strategy for the synthesis of valuable molecules, including chiral centers, offering several benefits over traditional batch processes. By improvement of mass transfer, precise control of reaction parameters, and in-line downstream processes, enzymatic reactions can achieve enhanced productivities under continuous flow. During the last decade, this technology has emerged as a more sustainable and efficient strategy to boost enzyme-based reactions in research labs aiming at industrial production. With special focus on pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, and other chiral compounds, herein we showcase recent developments on flow biocatalysis.
