Principles of Systemic Resilience to Climate Change in Caribbean Small Island Developing States

It is widelySystemic Resilience accepted that climate changeClimate Change is associated with vulnerabilities to infrastructure, and to economic and societal risk across the globe. Developing island nations are more susceptible to climate changeClimate Change impacts due to the unique location and logistical challenges already faced by these countries that are due to their geographical isolation and need for closed systemic functions. Actions to mitigate climate change require practical, holistic, strategized solutions to enhance the resilience of island nations. This chapter describes a framework of principles for Small Island Developing StatesSmall Island Developing States (SIDS) in the CaribbeanCaribbean to incorporate and enhance infrastructure and societal resilience to address anticipated climate shifts. The framework can be adapted for other climate-affected regions that have similar characteristics to those of the CaribbeanCaribbean SIDS.
