Effects of Expressive Writing on the Mental Health of Postpartum Women With Neonates in the NICU

Birth has been recognized as a potentially traumatic event with mental health consequences for some mothers. However, few studies exist evaluating interventions for at-risk women. The purpose of our study is to examine the effectiveness of expressive writing (EW) on the prevention and reduction of symptoms of posttraumatic stress and depression among mothers with long-stay newborns admitted into NICU.
