摘要
Identifying high risk patients and predicting complications after esophagectomy is challenging. Frailty, a state of increased vulnerability to adverse outcomes, is associated with old age, decreased physiological reserves and presence of co-morbid conditions. The modified Frailty index (mFI) has been validated as a useful tool to predict post-operative morbidity and mortality in large retrospective series. A score more than 0.27 has been demonstrated to predict poor outcomes.
