摘要
Group dynamics are inordinately complex, and this research will apply novel methods to develop empirical evidence for a similarly complex model of the informal small group founded in evolutionary and social psychology. We seek support for moderation of group member engagement claimed by the egalitarian version of the Continuum PILAR model (Prospects, Involved, Liked, Agency, Respect) or E-ComPILAR. After identifying 16 empirical studies via Systemic Review, we apply meta-analysis to test whether constructs aligned with E-ComPILAR correlate with engagement better than those remaining. Furthermore, the type of feedback (stabilising, reinforcing, or none) between E-ComPILAR's constructs is tested via a novel method of association of feedback type to correlation magnitude. The ten feedbacks group perfectly according to predictions (p < 0.001). A confirmatory test of this novel association is then performed through simulating E-ComPILAR and the ten feedbacks also largely group into the predicted three levels of correlation (p = 0.052). These findings support a claim that E-ComPILAR's constructs and interactions that posit to be a complex model of the egalitarian group are consistent with empirical studies.
