Front Cover: Deoxygenative Intramolecular Minisci‐Type Reaction to Access Fused Heterocyclic Scaffolds (Eur. J. Org. Chem. 7/2023)

The Front Cover shows the formation of a new fused heterocycle derived from furanose saccharide. This reaction is possible thanks to a deoxyfunctionalisation event through an intramolecular thermal Minisci reaction. The cover image was inspired by the creatures named Susuwatari, created by Studio Ghibli for some of their films. These soot spirits emerge from fire, acting as stabilizers of the radical species, as well as mediators of the newly formed bond. More information can be found in the Research Article by A.
