摘要
Non-exudative macular neovascularizations (MNV) correspond to treatment-naïve type 1 MNVs not associated with signs of clinical exudation. These lesions represent nowadays a relevant clinical entity in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Although previously described through histopathological studies, they have gained more interest with the advent of indocyanine green angiography and especially with the introduction of non-invasive multimodal techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography. However, there is no consensus regarding their precise definition and classification. In fact, non-exudative MNVs seem to encompass different types of lesions in terms of imaging features and clinical behavior. In this article, we summarize the main characteristics of non-exudative MNV in AMD patients aiming to provide a deeper understanding of this clinical entity.
