Metrology for the digital age

The digital transformation brings significant and revolutionary changes to the economy, industry, and society. This impacts and poses various challenges to the quality infrastructure (QI), as digital communication, distributed measurement systems, algorithms, and software need to be effectively addressed while the fundamental processes of QI are digitally transformed. In this chapter, we outline some of the basic elements of the digital transformation in metrology and their impact on the quality infrastructure.
