摘要
In this study, Ti3C2 MXene additives were synthesised by using a microwave-assisted hydrothermal technique which was dispersed in two different oil samples (marine engine oil and hydraulic oil). An X-ray diffraction (XRD) was conducted to validate the formation of MXene. The tribological properties of Ti3C2 MXene were investigated by using a 4-ball tribotester. The results revealed a reduction in the coefficient of friction (COF) by 4.6 and 26.2% in MXene/marine oil and MXene/hydraulic oil, respectively, compared to the base oils. Improvement of the wear scar diameter (WSD) by 7.3 and 8.1% in MXene/marine oil and MXene/hydraulic oil, respectively, were also observed. This showed that the Ti3C2 MXene additives improved the tribological performance by forming a protective film which avoids direct contact between the sliding surfaces, resulting in a significant COF and wear reduction.
