摘要

•This study firstly demonstrated that Syringic acid (SA) enhanced the viability of chondrocytes by reducing inflammation, and inhibiting degradation of Extracellular matrix, all of which are coordinated by the PTEN/AKT/NF-kB-mediated anti-inflammation defense system.•Therefore, Syringic acid (SA) may be a safe, economical, effective and natural compound with potential clinical application prospects.
