Ultrasound elastography: in vivo assessment of tissue stiffness

This chapter presents first the principles of elastography, and then reviews its well-established application to tumor detection in breast and its potential applications to the cervix for preterm birth prediction or successful induction of labor, and for intraepithelial neoplasia and cancer diagnostics.
