MOFs as catalysts for environmental advanced oxidation processes

Environmental pollution, especially in water and air, really makes the world unnatural. Therefore, development of novel technologies to tackle these problems is very important. Among many technologies, the advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) play a significant character in sustainable environmental reactions. In search of novel resources to be utilized as the efficient catalysts to speed up the AOPs, the metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have become one of the interesting candidates. The outstanding properties of MOFs like large surface area, high porosity, tunable pore structure, and variety material fabrication encouraged efficient candidates for AOPs. Herein, we presented a summary of growth and process in the synthesis of various kinds of MOFs, composites of MOFs as catalysts for the removal of pollutants in water, air and organic transformations. Finally, future challenges and developments of MOFs as catalysts have been summarized.
