摘要
Historically drug-targeting studies have focused on the idea that a single drug will have one protein target and that this target is responsible for disease. With advances in our understanding of cellular signaling we now know that this paradigm is overly simplistic. Proteins are arranged in highly complex, and context sensitive interaction networks and that it is errors in these networks that ultimately causes disease. Moving forward it would seem likely that novel therapies, designed to take advantage of the inherent network environment of drug targets, will have a significant impact on our ability to treat disease.
