摘要
Disparities in gynecologic cancer care, including clinical trial enrollment, have been well-documented. In exploring how socioeconomic factors impact decision making regarding clinical trial enrollment, we identified lacking social support and resources as primary reasons why patients decide against clinical trial enrollment. Current methods of distress screening have been shown to identify patients requiring additional psychosocial support but remain focused on the individual. We hypothesized that the level of social precarity, defined through the patient's degree of social embeddedness, resilience, and social capital, may impact gynecologic cancer outcomes by emphasizing the complexities of social worlds through which patients navigate their cancer diagnoses and treatments.
