Title I antidiscrimination protections

Chapter 5 covers Title I of the ADA, which prohibits discrimination in employment. It explains what types of entities are covered as employers; who is considered an employee; how Title I’s provisions apply to all stages and aspects of the employment experience, including hiring and termination; the basic requirement that an employee’s disability must be accommodated absent undue hardship for the employer or danger to the employee or others in the work environment; and the effect that recent increases in teleworking have had on the ADA’s coverage of the “workplace.” Throughout, the chapter provides numerous U.S. case law examples illustrating the concepts covered.
