Ag2CrO4 nanostructures: Characterization and catalytic properties

Catalytic properties of silver chromate (Ag2CrO4 ) nanoparticles, prepared by precipitation method at room temperature (Ag2CrO4-RT) were compared with calcined sample (Ag2CrO4-300). The prepared Ag2CrO4 samples possess orthorhombic-phase. Morphological analysis reveals that the samples were composed of highly crystalline nanocrystals with different morphologies. Ag2CrO4 -300 showed less band-gap than Ag2CrO4-RT. Both Ag2CrO4-RT and Ag2CrO4-300 were used for the reduction of methyl orange (MO) and eriochrome black T (EBT) in the presence of NaBH4. Maximum reduction efficiency was found to be 93.1% and similar to 100% for Ag2CrO4-RT and Ag2CrO4-300 towards MO and EBT, respectively.
