Some Salient Approaches to Omissive and Commissive Moore-Paradoxical Assertion

Abstract Chapter 4 surveys, in roughly historical order, the salient approaches to omissive and commissive Moore-paradoxical assertion that have been proposed since Wittgenstein, including proposals from Hintikka, Shoemaker, and Sorensen, among others. A complete account of Moore-paradoxical assertion should be able to deal with a number of puzzle cases that have emerged in the recent literature; these are summarized here.
