Purpose: Liver resections have historically been classified into Minor or Major depending on the number of segments resected. Considered the technical evolution and the consolidated role of minimally invasive surgery (MiLS), this may no longer be adequate. In recent years, various classifications have been proposed however none have fully established themselves in the international setting.
