Endothelial Cell Selectivity to Nanoparticles Depends on Mechanical Phenotype (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 18/2023)

摘要
Mechanotargeting of Atherogenic Endothelium In article number 202300137, Pouria Fattahi, Sulin Zhang, Peter J. Butler, and colleagues provide direct evidence for cell mechanics-based targeting of nanoparticles (NPs) to atherogenic endothelium, a drug-delivery strategy termed, mechanotargeting. Microcontact-patterned adhesive islands induce endothelial cells to adopt prescribed morphologies that mimic shear flow-induced phenotypes in vivo, resulting in increases in NP uptake with decreases in cellular mechanical stress.
