Activatable molecular transformation: A highly stable and low-energy gossyzid-Zn (metal-prodrug) conjugate is unmasked in two stages: first into a moderately stable gossyzid (prodrug) and then into a highly active and high-energy gossypol drug capable of climbing the energy hill to destroy cancer cells in a targetable manner.
