摘要
Metro maps are one of the main ways for users of the public transport system to orient themselves and plan trips. Designing good metro maps is a complex task, the automation of which has been widely studied. Despite this, human-designed maps are still of distinctly higher quality than those created automatically. This is because it is hard to formalise what a good map is in general, but also because there are usually portions of the map where deviations from a supposedly "optimal" solution - according to the general measure - are preferable and creativity is needed.
