Screening mammography is a key tool in the secondary prevention of breast cancer. Sixty-six percent of adult U.S. women aged 40 years and older have undergone screening mammography in the previous two years (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018; Nattinger & Mitchell, 2016). In 2020, women underwent more than 38 million mammograms in the United States (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2021).
