A rare case of silent sinus syndrome

- Silent sinus syndrome is a sporadic condition that involves chronic inflammation of the maxillary sinus, the characteristic symptom of which is spontaneous lowering of the orbital floor and collapse of the eyeball. The primary treatment method is endoscopic surgery of the paranasal sinuses;
- It is important that diagnosis and treatment involve the cooperation of many specialists – an ophthalmologist, endocrinologist, dentist, maxillofacial surgeon, and ENT specialist;
- In the case of unilateral changes in the paranasal sinuses, the development of a neoplastic disease should be excluded.
