摘要
Suture adjustment strabismus surgery decreases the incidence of reoperation, and increases the accuracy of strabismus correction especially in unpredictable cases. One-stage intraoperative adjustment under topical anesthesia has much advantage. There are no complications of general or retrobulbar anesthesia, and less chance of infection, accurate extraocular muscle tests and rapid rehabilitations are possible. Patients undergoing intraoperative adjustment surgery under topical anesthesia for horizontal strabismus from Apr 1992 until Apr 2001 with minimum follow-up of 3 months were included. One hundred thirty five patients with a mean age of 27.6 years (range 10-64 years) were investigated and postoperative follow-up period ranged from 3 months to 60 months averaging 9.27 months. The overall success rate was 90.4%.
