A Decision Support Framework to Enhance Performance in Resource Constrained Devices

The last few decades have seen an exponential increase in capabilities of smaller computing devices with an equally substantial decrease in their form factors. The first wave was ubiquitous mobile connectivity which paved the way for the widespread adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm and its later incarnation: The Internet of Everything (IoE). However, many of these devices may not be able to fulfill all the requirements of applications that are designed to run on them. In this work, we explore mechanisms to optimize computing offloading decisions while minimizing transmission power to create a decision framework. Our simulations show that the framework can achieve substantial improvements in computing performance and power consumption.
