摘要
In this paper, we study how much regulation and other location-specific factors explain regional differences in alcohol consumption? We analyze changes in alcohol consumption when households move from one state to another in the United States. We find that about two thirds of the regional differences in alcohol consumption can be attributed to differences in regulation and other location-specific effects. Our results suggest that alcohol availability accounts for a large share of the location-specific effect.
