Effective CO2 adsorption in hybrid 2D material with cellulose and its derivatives

The global cellulose market is expected to reach USD 305.08 billion from USD 219.53 billion, by 2026. 2D material-incorporated cellulose-systems are fabricated by different methods, including vacuum impregnation, in-situ synthesis, and solution casting. This review discusses various cellulosebased adsorbents as potential CO2 adsorbents ascribed to their high adsorption capacity (similar to upto 6.52 mmol/g for cellulose nanofibers). The adsorption mechanism of 2D-material-based adsorbents and various kinetics and isotherms along with the desorption of CO2 molecules from adsorbents, regeneration, and the recycling of the adsorbent are detailly discussed. The desorbed CO2 molecule is captured and stored for the further application of CO2 molecules. [GRAPHICS] .
