Advancing Treatments for Feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy The Role of Animal Models and Targeted

Feline HCM remains a challenging disease to effectively treat, particularly in the sub -clinical phase.1,2 This is largely due to our lack of understanding of how to predict disease progression within the individual patient. Advancements in our understand-ing of the genetic and molecular mechanisms associated with HCM in small and large animal models have led to exciting discoveries of novel drug therapies and treatment strategies that ultimately benefit both people and animals with HCM.15 Further investigations using this comparative and translational medicine approach will continue to drive future discovery of novel ways to manage HCM in our feline population. Additional preclinical and clinical trials exploring new drug therapies are already underway.
