Many formats of CRIs are existing including long essay questions, short answer questions (SAQs), and the modified essay questions (MEQs). The aim of this chapter is to introduce you to CRIs' different formats, applications, their strengths and weakness, and how to construct them. By the end of this chapter, the reader is expected to be able to 1. Discuss the different types of constructed response items' strengths and weaknesses. 2.
