Inter-layer propagation of spiral waves: Effects of time-varying defect blocks and magnetic flows

•A Hindmarsh-Rose model is used to simulate the inter-layer propagation of spiral waves in excitable media.•The effects of non-uniform magnetic fields on network wave propagation is considered.•Considering the relative position of the scars within the tissue, the movement of defect blocks is introduced.•The three statistical methods defined in this paper predict the conversion of wave patterns.
