Magnetic materials-based medical devices for diagnosis, surgery, and therapy

International regulations for medical and/or technological companies and suppliers govern applications of medical devices. The performance of medical devices is ensured by the selection of the proper biomaterial. Magnetic materials have been used in the development of medical devices for a variety of medical applications, including neurostimulation, hyperthermia, theranostics, bioimaging, surgical applications, bio-sensing, and biomedicine. The chapter discusses the benefits and drawbacks of medical devices made of magnetic materials, as well as some problems with the design of the devices, the materials used in them, and their intended uses. New knowledge about smart materials, coating technologies, 3D printing and bioprinting fabrication, device miniaturization, and bioartificial constructs are discussed as solutions that are encouraging for the creation of long-lasting, highly effective, customized medical devices.
