Synthesis, Microstructure, and Fluorescence Properties of (YSZ)x-(YTaO4)1-x Ceramic Powder Prepared by Chemical Coprecipitation Method

In this paper, the (YSZ)x-(YTaO4)1-x (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) fluorescence ceramic powder was synthesized by chemical coprecipitation method, and the influence of Zr4+ concentration on the structure, morphology, and luminescence properties of yttrium tantalate phosphor was studied. The results show that the prepared ceramic powder consists of M'-YTaO4 and YSZ, which shows pebble-like morphology. And the grain size was gradually refined with the increase of Zr4+ contents. At 385 nm excitation, (YSZ)x-(YTaO4)1-x emits bluish green fluorescence between 450 to 550 nm and decays as a bi-exponential function. The maximum luminous intensity and fluorescence life time increase firstly and then decrease as the Zr4+ content increases. The fluorescence life of (YSZ)0.3-(YTaO4)0.7 is nearly 3 times of pure YTaO4 at room temperature. The fluorescence lifetimes of (YSZ)0.3-(YTaO4)0.7 decays exponentially with the increasing of temperature; thus, the temperature of (YSZ)0.3-(YTaO4)0.7 can be achieved by measuring the lifetime of TaO43-.
