Ethical decision-making

Abstract This chapter covers ethical decision making. It begins with an introduction of how to apply the principles discussed in the chapter. It then describes approaches to medical ethics, the development of codes, and clinical ethics committees. It goes on to approaches to ethical reasoning, including utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics, the Four Principles, and makes comparisons between theories. It goes on to cover values-based practice, and finally covers ethics and the law.
