Very low lipoprotein(a) and increased mortality risk after myocardial infarction

Background and Aims: Inconclusive data exist on mortality and coronary artery thrombotic complications risk associated with Lp(a) in patients with type I myocardial infarction (MI). Aims of the present study were to (1) evaluate the association between Lp(a) level and mortality risk, and (2) describe the association between Lp(a) levels and intracoronary thromboembolic events requiring glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors administration.
